After AP elections 2019, for the first time YS Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh state. As soon as he took charges as CM, he has first signed a file of increasing the old age pension in AP on 30th May 2019. The name of the scheme renamed and is now popularly known to be as “YSR Pension Kanuka” which is previously named as “NTR Bharosa Pension scheme” under the Chandra Babu government. Under the governance of previous CM, the pension for the old age people used to be Rs. 2,000/-. Now, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy increased it to Rs. 2,250/-. This means a total of Rs. 250/- is hiked. This increased pension or the revised scheme will be implemented from 1st June 2019 which means pensioners can get the hiked amount from 1st June itself. About YSR Pension Scheme
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has promised of increasing the old age pension to Rs. 3,000/- before the elections in the Andhra Pradesh state and mentioned it in his manifesto. As a part of it, he hiked the pension to Rs. 2,250/- for this current year. And in the coming three more years, the pension gets hike to Rs. 250/- every year in regular intervals which means by the start of the next elections the old age pension amount in Andhra Pradesh will reach to Rs. 3,000/-.

Also CM of AP has reduced the eligibility age of the pensioners from 65 to 60 years from this year. AP government has also fixed Rs. 3,000/- pension for the disabled people and Rs. 10,000/- for people suffering from chronic kidney disease. All the eligible people for this pension will be identified by SERP (Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty). With this new changes in the pension scheme, even more people will be benefited.

Features of YSR Pension Kanuka
- Old age pension and pension for weavers, widow, single women, toddy tappers, fishermen, PLHIV (ART Pensions) and traditional cobblers is increased to Rs. 2,250/-. (In next 3 years, it will be increased to Rs. 3,000/- with regular increase of Rs. 250/- per year for next 3 years.)
- Disabled people pension increased to Rs. 3,000/-.
- CKDU / Dialysis pension increased to Rs. 10,000/-.

How to Apply for YSR Pension Kanuka (Scheme) 2019
All the new pensioners can apply for the scheme offline as no online process is introduced. The process to apply for the AP pension scheme remains the same i.e., all the eligible people can visit the nearest panchayat office, take the pension application form, fill and submit the application form in the office. That’s it, your application will be verified and if you are eligible for the scheme, your name will be listed and you will receive the designated pension soon.
Currently, there is no online process to apply for the YSR Pension Scheme 2019 as officials has not shared any information regarding this. Soon, the online process is expected to be introduced to ease the burden on the people. However, people can check all the details regarding the scheme in the official website https://ntrbharosa.ap.gov.in/. Many services such as report checking, contact information, helpline etc. are provided through that site.
